RYA Start Yachting and RYA Competent Crew course Combined Over 2 weekends
This course is for beginners and those who would like to become active crew members rather than just passengers.
Experience living on board and really get to know the boat. Virtually all the course is hands-on. You are the crew - without you, the sails won't go up and the boat won't be steered.
By the end of the course, you should be able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy, and assist in all the day-to-day duties on board. You should also have visited some interesting places and had an enjoyable holiday.
On successful completion of the start yachting and competent crew course combined, you will obtain your full competent crew certificate.
Duration: 5 days (live on board at least 3 night)
An example itinerary for your is shown below, (it may change due to weather forecasts). Please note that you will be staying onboard overnight away from DOSC on Day 1, Day 2 and Day 4.
1st Weekend
Day 1 Meet at DOSC at 0845. Prep the boat and sail to Jebal Ali. Stay onboard overnight.
Day 2 Sail to Port Rashid. Stay onboard overnight.
Day 3 Sail to DOSC. Week de brief and logbook signed.
2nd Weekend
Day 4 - Sail to Palm west/world islands. Stay onboard overnight.
Day 5 Sail to DOSC. Course debrief and certification.

Maximum students per course: 5
Minimum Age: 12 (Students 18 years old or younger must be accompanied by an adult while participating in the course.)
Course Content: Knowledge of sea terms and parts of a boat, her rigging and sails, sail handling, ropework, fire precautions and fighting, personal safety equipment, man overboard, emergency equipment, meteorology, seasickness, helmsmanship, general duties, manners and customs, rules of the road, dinghies
