Offshore Personal Survival & RYA Sea Survival » Offshore Personal Survival & RYA Sea Survival

27th - 28 January, 9:00am - 6:00pm

DOSC is very pleased to announce an addition to the training calendar. An amazing opportunity to complete the Offshore Personal Survival Course and RYA Seas Survival Course.

ISAF - Offshore Personal Survival

This training course is aimed at recreational and racing skippers and crews who may encounter rough weather and problems at sea.

This two days sea survival course covers training in seamanship and emergencies, including heavy weather seamanship, weather forecasting, fire fighting and man overboard recovery.

At the end of the course you will have a good knowledge of the safety equipment carried on small boats and the seamanship techniques needed to survive at sea in heavy weather.

The certificate awarded conforms with the eligibility requirements of section 6.01 of the ISAF Special Regulations for category 0, 1 and some category 2 offshore races.

RYA Sea Survival

A two-days course for anyone going to sea, providing an understanding of how to use the safety equipment on board your boat.

A genuine lifesaver

Cruising is one of the safest leisure sporting activities, and 99.9% of those afloat will never use their life raft. However, if you are part of the unlucky 0.1% your chances of survival will be greatly increased if you understand how to use the equipment and how to help yourself.

It is a well-proven fact that, in the event of an emergency at sea, people with training are more likely to survive.

An important part of the course is a practical session in a swimming pool. Experience first hand the problems of entering an uncooperative life raft and assisting others while fully kitted out in wet weather gear and a life jacket.

Course topics include:

  • - life rafts and the equipment they contain
  • - survival techniques
  • - the design of life jackets
  • - medical aspects of sea survival
  • - search and rescue techniques

Dates: 27th and 28th April from 9am until 6pm (2 days only)

Location: Saturday: At DOSC in the Loft

Sunday: Practical session Swimming pool 9am to 12pm (participants need to arrange own transport back to DOSC for the afternoon session)

Price: AED 1840 for both days (visitors) / AED 1320 for both days (members)
