The aim of the 'Start Sailing' course is to get you sailing a dinghy!! After a brief introduction to the boat and how to rig it up, the class will take to the water where you will learn all the key skills for handling a sailing boat. By the end of the course you should be able to confidently sail your boat upwind, downwind, perform both methods turning your boat around (tacking and gybing), control your speed and have a basic theoretical understanding. The group Level 1 course will take place on a RS Venture with 3 students and an instructor on board.

Course Prerequisites: None - there are no prerequisites for this course

Minimum Duration: 2 days

Timings: 10am till 5pm on both days

Minimum Age: 16

Ability after course: Able to sail in light winds under supervision
