RYA Coastal Skipper Practical Liveaboard » RYA Coastal Skipper Practical - Over 5 Consecutive Days
The RYA Coastal Skipper Practical Course is designed for experienced sailors who already have a solid foundation in navigation, seamanship, and yacht handling, and who wish to develop the advanced skills required to undertake coastal passages by both day and night. This intensive course builds on the skills gained at Day Skipper level and prepares you to take full responsibility for a yacht in more challenging situations and conditions.
Through a series of skippered passages, you will refine your decision-making, strengthen your confidence as a leader on board, and learn how to manage a yacht safely and efficiently during longer and more complex coastal journeys.
Like the Day Skipper Practical Course, this training is hands-on and scenario based—but with more demanding exercises and expectations. Each trainee will take turns acting as skipper, planning and executing passages that may include night sailing, pilotage in unfamiliar harbours, restricted visibility, and handling the yacht in stronger winds or challenging sea states.
