Learn to crew a sailing yacht with confidence. This entry-level course is perfect for beginners and those looking to become active members of a yachts crew. You wont just observe — youll take part in every aspect of life on board. From hoisting sails to helming, youll be fully immersed in the sailing experience.
Over five days, you'll build essential seamanship skills, explore local waters, and experience the rewards of teamwork at sea. Whether you're aiming to progress through the RYA pathway or simply enjoy a hands-on sailing holiday, this course lays a strong foundation.
What Youll Learn
By the end of the course, youll be able to:
- Steer under sail and power
- Handle sails and lines
- Keep watch and respond to commands
- Row a dinghy
- Contribute to daily operations onboard

Sample Itinerary:
The itinerary may vary depending on weather conditions.
Day 1: Meet at DOSC at 08:45. Prepare the yacht and sail to Jebel Ali. Overnight onboard.
Day 2: Sail to Port Rashid. Overnight onboard.
Day 3: Return to Dosc
Day 4: Sail to Palm West or World Islands. Overnight onboard.
Day 5: Return to DOSC. Final debrief and certificate handover.
Course Details
- Duration: 5 days (split over two weekends including one Friday)
- Timings: Start at 09:00 AM on Day 1
- Live-aboard: Onboard overnight stays on Days 1, 2, and 4.

- Minimum Age: 12 years
- Note: Students under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
- Outcome: Full RYA Competent Crew Certificate
