The RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course is a comprehensive two-day program designed to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge required to safely operate a powerboat. Whether you're new to powerboating or looking to gain a formal qualification, this course provides both practical training and theoretical background in a supportive, hands-on environment.
Course Overview:
This entry-level course covers everything from low-speed manoeuvres to high-speed handling and essential safety procedures. You'll gain confidence behind the wheel and leave with a recognized qualification that enables you to handle a powerboat safely and independently in mild conditions.
What Youll Learn:
- Launching and recovery
- Close-quarters boat handling
- High-speed manoeuvres and planning techniques
- Coming alongside and leaving pontoons
- Securing to a buoy and anchoring
- Man overboard recovery
- Basic navigation and collision regulations
- Awareness of weather, tides, and craft limitations
Course Details:
- Duration: 2 Days
- Timings: 10:00 AM 5:30 PM
- Minimum Age: 12 years
- Note: Candidates under 16 will receive an endorsed certificate
- Prerequisite: None required
- Outcome: Confident and self-sufficient powerboat operator in mild conditions, aware of personal and vessel limitations
