RYA VHF (SRC) Course (Online)

The SRC / VHF course is an online course supported by an RYA SRC/VHF instructor, followed by an assessment which takes between 30min and 1 hour. The assessment will be held at DOSC. There is an exam / License fee of £70 (Pounds) which is paid directly to the RYA.

Once you book your place on the course VHF RADIO (including GMDSS) Course Handbook G31 can be collected here in the club and you will get access to the RYA interactive website. At the end of the course you will receive an RYA SRC Certificate of online course completion which allows you to participate in the exams. The assessment will take about 1 hour, during which you will be tested on your home study and course content.

This course is ideal for skippers and crews of sailing yachts who want to hold an SRC radio operators license, in order to operate a short-range marine VHF radio with DSC (Digital Selective Calling). The SRC Radio operators license is a legal requirement for marine VHF users throughout the world and also one of the requirements for participating in RYA / MCA Yachtmaster practical exams.

The VHF/SRC course is delivered through the RYAs Interactive Site.

*TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • Parking is available close to DOSC for non-members/students; the DOSC carpark is reserved for full members only.
  • Notification of cancellation or postponement must be made in writing to DOSC Sailing Team a minimum of 48 hours before the start of the course.
  • Cancellation or postponement less than 48 hours due to any medical reasons must provide a sick note or certificate from the Doctor. Failure to provide one will result to loss of the session.
  • Bookings may be transferable to later scheduled courses if the above cancellation or postponement notification were done or provided.
  • Refund of the course fees will be processed within 10–15 days of submission of complete and correct bank details. An administrative cost of 10% will be deducted from the refund amount.
  • Course fees are not refundable if notification of cancellation is received after the start of the course.
  • In the event of adverse weather conditions, an outbreak of serious disease or pandemic, government action, fire and all similar events outside of our control, it may be necessary for DOSC to postpone your booked session. Your lesson will be rescheduled as per availability. In case of refund, our liability will be limited to the return of the fees after deducting 10% administrative cost.
  • In the event of non-availability of the instructor or the boat is out of order, it may be necessary for us to postpone your booked session. Your lesson will be rescheduled as per availability. In case of refund, our liability will be limited to the return of the fees.
  • In the event a course is cancelled for other than above reasons, it may be necessary for us to postpone your booked session. Your lesson will be rescheduled as per availability.
  • The course will be taught in the English language only.
  • You must have the necessary course pre-requisites. Failure to produce the correct certification and/or documents will result in DOSC removing you from the course without re-imbursement.
  • The person engaging in the course must be confident in the water and of adequate fitness to engage in sailing lessons.
  • Clients will abide by DOSC’s Code of Practice throughout their stay. DOSC reserves the right to ask any individual who is not conforming to the Code of Practice to leave the premises. There will be no refund in these cases. (A code of Conduct is available on request.)
  • Although all possible measures are taken to ensure security, DOSC, its servants, employees or agents are not under any liability whatsoever in respect of loss or damage to clients’ property or belongings while attending a course.
