Weekly Weekend Learn to Sail » Beginner Group - Term 1 - Saturday Group
Our Weekend Beginner Learn to Sail courses run by term and are the perfect starting point for young sailors. Beginners can choose either Saturday or Sunday mornings, taking advantage of calmer winds, ideal for building skills and confidence on the water.
Students will work toward RYA Stage 1 or 2 certification, covering essential sailing techniques and laying the foundation to become confident small boat sailors.
To keep learning fun and exciting, sessions include games, challenges, and water-based activities that foster a love for sailing and boost confidence.
Course Details:
- Prerequisite: Water confidence
- Duration: 3 hours per session
- Time: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
- Term Dates: 6th Sep, 13th Sep, 20th Sep, 27th Sep, 4th Oct, 11th Oct (6 weeks)
- Minimum Age: 6 years
- Outcome: RYA Stage 1 or 2 (based on ability and progression)
Enrolment Guidelines (Age & Weight): To ensure safety and an optimal learning experience, students are grouped based on age and weight:
- Ages 6-8 or under 40kg will sail in Optimist dinghies, taking part in our Sailors of tomorrow programme, designed specifically for younger, lighter sailors.
- Ages 9+ or over 40kg will sail in RS Zests, Teras and double-handed boats, which are more suited to older or heavier sailors.
Our team will assess students on the first day to ensure they are placed in the most appropriate group and boat type for their development.
Important Notes:
- This is a fixed weekly course; all sessions must be attended. Make-up sessions are not available, regardless of the reason for absence. Please refer to our T&Cs for details.
- Students are only allowed to attend on the specific date they are booked for. For example, if booked for Saturday, attendance on Sunday is not permitted, and vice versa.
- Cancellations or postponements of the entire course must be submitted in writing to DOSC at least 60 hours before the course start date.
