Junior RIB Club (Ages 10 to 13)
The Junior RIB Club is a dynamic and exciting course for young enthusiasts aged 10 to 13, offering a safe and structured introduction to the world of powerboating. Perfect for confident water lovers, this programme teaches key boat handling skills while promoting responsibility, awareness, and safety on the water.
Course Overview
- Dates: Monday, 13th October Friday, 17th October 2025
- Timings: 10:00 AM 1:00 PM daily
- Duration: 5 morning sessions
- Age Group: 10 to 13 years old
- Pre-requisite: Must be water confident
What to Expect
- A fun, practical course focused on safe powerboat handling
- Learn the basics of driving RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats) under the guidance of qualified RYA instructors
- Topics covered include:
- Starting and stopping the engine
- Steering and throttle control
- Manoeuvring at low and planning speeds
- Handling in confined spaces (such as marinas and docks)
- Passenger safety and communication
- Introduction to navigation and collision regulations (COLREGs)
- By the end of the week, students may be awarded up to the RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate, depending on performance, understanding, and instructor assessment
Certification
- The RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate is internationally recognised and a significant milestone in small boat handling.
- For students under 16, the certificate is endorsed to reflect age restrictions on operating powerboats without supervision.
Important Notes:
- This is a fixed 5-day programme; all sessions must be attended. Make-up sessions are not available, regardless of the reason for absence. Please refer to our T&Cs for details.
- Cancellations or postponements of the entire camp must be submitted in writing to DOSC at least 60 hours before the course start date.
