Learn to Sail Intermediate Camp
This Intermediate PM Camp is designed for young sailors who have already achieved their RYA Stage 2 Certificate and are ready to take the next step in their sailing journey. Perfect for those looking to refine their boat handling, improve control, and get a first taste of racing.
Camp Overview
- Dates: Monday, 13th October Friday, 17th October 2025
- Timings: 2:00 PM 5:00 PM daily
- Duration: 5 afternoon sessions
- Pre-requisite: RYA Stage 2 Certificate
What to Expect
- Ideal for sailors looking to progress toward RYA Stage 3 and Stage 4
- Focused on building confidence, independence, and control in a single-handed dinghy
- Sailing in RS Zests and RS Tera boats
- Key topics covered:
- Sail trim and boat setup
- Upwind and downwind sailing techniques
- Introduction to racing: rules, strategy, and starting sequences
- Boat handling in stronger wind conditions
- On-water decision making and situational awareness
- Led by qualified RYA instructors who support individual development while fostering teamwork and fun on the water
Progression Goals
- Participants will work toward completing RYA Stages 3 or 4, depending on ability, commitment, and weather conditions.
Important Notes:
- This is a fixed 5-day programme; all sessions must be attended. Make-up sessions are not available, regardless of the reason for absence. Please refer to our T&Cs for details.
- Cancellations or postponements of the entire camp must be submitted in writing to DOSC at least 60 hours before the course start date.
